Why bench quality matters under load.

A bench is the most-used piece of equipment on a gym floor after the treadmill. Members bench press, incline press, dumbbell row, step-up, hip thrust, and stretch on it. A flat bench in a busy gym might see 60–80 uses per day, 5–6 days a week. That is over 20,000 load cycles a year. Cheap foam compresses, cheap vinyl cracks, and cheap welds fatigue.

A wobbly bench is not just an annoyance — it is a liability. When a member has 100 kg on the bar and the backrest shifts, they lose trust in the equipment and in the gym. That member does not complain — they cancel. The direct cost of replacing a bench every 18 months is less visible than the indirect cost of the members who leave because the equipment feels cheap. Our warranty covers the frame, welds, and moving parts — per component, not per bench.

HARTIS benches use 65 kg/m³ moulded foam — not cut-sheet foam that compresses unevenly under load. The vinyl cover is rated to 150,000+ Martindale rub cycles, which means it resists abrasion from belt buckles, zippers, and chalk for years before needing replacement. When the cover does eventually wear, it is a bolt-on pad — order a replacement and swap it in 10 minutes.

Every bench matches the powder coat and upholstery palette used across racks, plate-loaded machines, and storage. A unified floor does not happen by accident — it happens because every piece comes from the same production line, finished in the same booth, upholstered with the same material.

Where it works

Built for these floors

Independent gyms

Flat and adjustable benches pair with every rack and dumbbell set on the floor. They are the equipment members touch most — quality here is felt immediately.

University S&C rooms

Olympic bench stations — flat, incline and decline — run back-to-back in programmed sessions. Consistent pad height and width across all benches keeps the training standardised.

Physiotherapy and rehabilitation

Multi-position adjustable benches support progressive loading in controlled ranges. Stable platforms matter when patients are rebuilding strength after injury.

Hotel and corporate fitness

A compact bench selection — one flat, one adjustable, one abdominal — covers the essentials without overloading a small footprint.

FAQ

65 kg/m³ high-density moulded foam. Moulded, not cut from sheet — so the density is consistent edge to edge and the pad keeps its shape under thousands of load cycles. Cheap benches use 40–50 kg/m³ cut foam that compresses within months.

Yes. The pad is a bolt-on unit — 4 bolts, 10 minutes, no tools beyond a socket wrench. Order a replacement pad in the same or a different colour and swap it on site. You do not need to send the bench back.

250 to 350 kg combined load (user plus bar plus plates), depending on the model. Olympic bench press stations are rated at the top end. Flat and adjustable utility benches sit in the 250–300 kg range. These are working loads for daily commercial use, not theoretical maximums.

Yes. The TB series includes a dedicated Olympic decline press station with integrated bar supports and safety catches. The adjustable benches in the TM series also have decline positions for dumbbell work without a barbell station.

6 to 12 positions depending on the model, from flat (0°) through to near-vertical (85°). Pop-pin adjustment locks positively at each detent — no laddered friction clamps that slip under load.

430 to 450 mm seat height, matching the competition bench press standard. This height lets most adults plant their feet flat on the floor with a slight arch — the position coaches teach for safe bench pressing.

Yes. Flat and adjustable benches have transport wheels on one end and a handle on the other. Tilt and roll to reposition, then set down flat — the rubber feet grip the floor and the bench does not move under load.

Yes. Every HARTIS product uses the same upholstery palette — same vinyl, same colour options, same stitching. Order benches, racks, plate-loaded and selectorised machines together and the floor matches. Custom colours are available with a minimum order quantity.

An individual flat bench starts around €300 delivered DDP. A full bench set for a mid-size gym — 3–4 flat, 2–3 adjustable, 2 Olympic stations, 1 preacher, 1abdominal — typically runs €3,500 to €6,000. Send the floor plan for a real quote.
